New month, new challenges/adventures

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a roller coaster of a year. It feels as though, with each new month we start, many of us are holding our breath and wondering what the new month will bring. More surprises that turn into challenges or adventures that we didn’t sign up for? Something happy and exciting? Or, dare I say, will it be fairly normal?

New Outlook

This Summer has not been without it’s challenges for me personally. I’ve really struggled with what God has planned (and not knowing what the next few months hold). I know I have to trust Him and His timing, but I’m human and sometimes curve balls are thrown at you that cause you to worry and be nervous. Last month the majority of my Bible reading and devotions were centered around what I was dealing with spiritually and emotionally. That’s not a coincidence. That’s God speaking to me and getting my attention. My husband and I have had some really good conversations lately with what we’ve been reading in our Bibles and how we should respond in regards to our circumstances and what God is telling us. I’m thankful to have someone by my side to navigate through such an uncertain time.

As we enter a new month and I get this blog underway, I’m choosing to have a new outlook on the rest of the year. Ok, maybe I should just start with the month of August. But, really, I don’t feel a heavy burden on my shoulders as much as I did a few weeks ago. My prayers have been asking God for continued strength and to continue to provide for us. He always has even when the outcome looked different than I envisioned.

One Last Thought

As I’ve been writing this post, a few verses came to mind. Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) says “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Further down in Philippians 4, verses 13 and 19, the Apostle Paul wrote “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (NKJV) Hopefully these verses will be an encouragement to anyone reading this post who’s dealing with uncertainty in their life right now.
